Model wearing a handwoven indigo Aso Oke kaftan by RoseGold Couture

Handwoven in West Africa · Worn in America

The dress they'll ask you about all night.

Every piece is woven on a loom by hand, not printed by a machine. Real Aso Oke. Real Adire. Cut for women who walk into a room and change it — and priced so you don't have to think twice.

Let's be honest about it

Most "African print" you've bought was printed in a factory.

You paid designer money. What arrived was polyester with a pattern stamped on it — stiff, shiny, and obvious the moment anyone who knows looks at it. That is not what we make.

Printed, not woven

Wax print is a pattern pressed onto cloth. Aso Oke is a pattern built into the cloth — thread by thread, on a hand loom, by a weaver who trained for years. You can feel the difference before you see it.

Sized for someone else

Mass-market "African" dresses are cut on a Western block and hope for the best. Our BouBou, Kaftan and Kimono silhouettes are cut the way they are meant to fall — generous through the body, elegant at the shoulder.

No story behind it

When someone compliments the dress, you should have something to say. Every piece here carries a name, a weave, and a maker — not a stock code from a warehouse.

The Collections

Four weaves. One standard.

Browse by the craft, not by a category someone invented for a shopping cart.

Most wanted

The pieces that sell out first.

Each is woven in a limited run. When a weave is gone, it is gone — we do not reorder a hand loom.

Our promise

Wear it once. If it isn't the best thing you own, send it back.

You are buying handwoven cloth from four thousand miles away without touching it first. We know that takes trust — so we carry the risk, not you.

30 days, no questions. Didn't fall the way you hoped? Return it. No restocking fee, no interrogation.
Free shipping, always. Every U.S. order ships free. The price you see is the price you pay.
Real people, fast. Message us about sizing before you order — we answer, and we know the fabric.

Before you ask

The questions everyone has.

Aso Oke is woven in narrow strips on a hand loom and then joined — so the pattern runs through the cloth, and you can see the strip seams. Printed wax cloth has a pattern on one face only and a pale reverse. Turn any piece of ours over: the back tells the truth.

BouBou, Kaftan and Kimono styles are cut generously and are designed to flow rather than fit close — most women wear their usual size or one below. If you're between sizes or unsure, message us before ordering and we'll tell you honestly which to take.

Shipping is free on every order inside the United States. Delivery timeframe to be confirmed.

Yes — 30 days from delivery, in unworn condition, no restocking fee. We would rather take a piece back than have it sit unworn in your closet.

We do work with clients on custom orders and matching sets for weddings and events. Custom process and lead time to be confirmed.

Dry clean, or hand wash cold and hang to dry away from direct sun. Never wring handwoven cloth. Iron on low with a cloth between the iron and the weave. Treated properly, these pieces outlast anything else in your wardrobe.
